I LOVE when makeup can serve many purposes...and for the third installment of my Ultimate Guide to Animal-Friendly Highlighters, I want to shine the spotlight on vegan and cruelty free loose powders. They are fairly pure pigments great for mixing in with moisturizer, gloss, as well as with other pigments. They come in every color and finish imaginable, and they work on eyes, lips, cheeks and body. Due to the complex nature of many of these shades, the swatch photos don't even do them justice. These loose powders are so versatile and beautiful, and would make an excellent addition to any makeup collection!
- "Osteomancy" Highlighter, Notoriously Morbid, $8.50. A "pearly white highlight with the right amount of shimmer", it is very pigmented with a lovely subtle sheen, and is ideal for fair skin tones. Available in a variety of sizes.
- "diana" goddess highlighter, Aromaleigh, $7. Diana is "a pale gold highlighter with a soft blue lustre". The powder looks like a matte beige at first glance, yet when it goes on it transforms into an incredible iridescent whitish blue with a natural golden shift. Also available in a variety of sizes.
- "Lumi" Loose Eyeshadow, Sugarpill, $14. Described as an "iridescent snow white with turquoise sheen and flashing bursts of blue and green", this is such a fun and unique glittery highlight perfect for the majestic mermaid transformation of your dreams.
- "Cultured Pearl" Eyecolor, BareMinerals, $14. This is such a lovely reflective light pink (pearl). It is incredibly pigmented and as such, a little bit goes a very long way.
- "Oberon" Loose Colour, OCC, $12. This is a "pink opal shimmer" which has a lovely duo chrome quality, shifting between a cool toned pink and a soft white.
- "Confidence" Highlighter, Fyrinnae, $9. A "soft rosy pink with a satiny finish" with no sparkle. This one has similar tones to the OCC "Oberon", yet more subtle without the duo chrome color shift. This is another indie brand which offers a variety of sizes.
- "Platonic" Loose Colour, OCC, $12. This is a beautifully luminescent "pale creme shimmer" with a gorgeous pink champagne reflect. Like "Oberon" it has an almost indescribable duo chrome quality to it.
- "Work is Overrated" Overshadow, theBalm, $15. A shimmery champagne color, this one catches the light in all the right ways, perfect for a blindingly glowing highlight as well as to add an extra pop of fabulosity over eyeshadow (as the name would suggest).
- "ixchel" goddess highlighter, Aromaleigh, $7. A "pale lavender with gold shift/glow" with no glitter or sparkles, this has an incredibly unique hue. The powder looks like a matte lavender yet goes on as a lovely champagne gold with lavender reflect. As with Aromaleigh's other highlighters it is available in a variety of sizes.
- "Sweet Dreams" Pigment, Makeup Geek, $9. A "light flesh-toned beige pink", this is such a striking golden champagne color with a lovely peach shift. It is very pigmented and has a velvety smooth texture.
- "No Money No Honey" Overshadow, theBalm, $15. This is a super reflective light yellow gold with a beautiful shimmer to it. Like "Work is Overrated" it is perfect as a highlight as well as over eyeshadow.
- "amaterasu" goddess highlighter, Aromaleigh, $7. A "lustrous bronze with a golden shift", this is a perfect highlight for darker skin tones as well as a stunning bronzer and eyeshadow. As with the brand's other highlighters it is available in a variety of sizes.
