ANYTHING YOU CAN EAT, I CAN EAT VEGAN
A public spy for the private eye, I am always on the lookout for the latest and greatest epic veganized comfort food. But let me start off with the preface that I do not claim to be the authority on anything. During my brief stint on this earth as a human being thus far I have developed a love of many things great and small, and I hope to share just the tip of that iceberg through this blog.
I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, with developing interests in culinary art, style, music, theatre, dance and animals. After spending years participating in every after school activity imaginable and being voted 'most likely to be famous' at Indian Hill High School, I eventually left all the delicious comfort food of Cincinnati behind and found my way to The Boston Conservatory, where I obtained my BFA in Musical Theatre. I then spent several years in NYC, falling head over heels in love with its magnificent food scene.
The turning point of my life was an important realization: the best way for me to spread my immense love for all beings is through veganism. After a visit to the beautiful Catskill Animal Sanctuary in New York, it became glaringly clear that it's way more fun to befriend non-human species than to unknowingly view them as cogs in the wheel. After a day of cuddling with chickens, pigs, cows, goats, sheep, horses and ducks, there was no way I was going back to consuming animal products. A natural sleuth, it's only fair for me to share my odyssey with you. That means sharing my favorite vegan food and lifestyle items I've discovered along the way.
But, a disclaimer: "vegan" doesn't have to mean painting your face with a leaf and eating fancy smoothie bowls and kale salads all day every day (though it can if you want it to). I've discovered a whole new world of recipes, cuisines and restaurants, and so many amazing cruelty free and vegan beauty products, from fleeky highlighters to blue lipstick and even holographic nail polish. I am liberated, not limited. Since going vegan, I have been at my healthiest and happiest, and most importantly, it gives my life more purpose than anything I've ever known.
Now I'm back in Cincinnati, ready to support the Queen City's expanding vegan offerings! In addition to The Vegan Spy, I'm an Editor for Cruelty-Free Kitty, and the Human Resources Director of the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC).
