Although I personally believe anyone should be able to wear whatever color they damn well please whenever they want, sometimes it is fun to participate in a good old theme. As such, here are my six favorite vegan and cruelty free shades of crimson and fuchsia for all the clandestine lovers out there.
"Velvet Underground" K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick, Charlotte Tilbury, $34- Perhaps my favorite luxury lipstick I own, Velvet Underground is a stunning fuchsia perfectly balanced between warm and cool. It is incredibly creamy and pigmented, and works very nicely when blotted to create a long lasting stain.
"Santorini" Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick, OFRA Cosmetics, $19.90- Santorini is a vibrant hot metallic pink, and although in the swatches below it looks similar, it is cooler than Velvet Underground and of course more metallic. As a liquid lipstick it is very long lasting, yet comfortable and not drying.
"Dahlia" Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick, Jouer, $18- Dahlia is described as a "Metallic Cool Electric Plum". It is such a unique color, perfect for those that don't like pink (but want to wear pink). Like OFRA's formula it is very long lasting yet comfortable, but with a slightly more mousse-like texture.
"Cozy" Ultra Satin Lip, Colourpop, $6- The most affordable option of the bunch, Cozy is an awesomely vivid true orange red which truly wakes up the face. As with most liquid lipsticks, the formula can be a tad drying so I recommend exfoliating before applying.
"Red Dragon" Lip Tar, OCC, $16- A "brilliant ruby red with pearl", Red Dragon is a stunning complex shade of red. Like all OCC Lip Tars it has a glossy satin finish which can also be blotted for a mattified stain. The formula is incredibly comfortable on the lips. OCC has many more amazing shades of red including (but certainly not limited to) NSFW, Stalker, Fleshworld and Vintage.
"Bitchwitched" Matte Lipstick, Necromancy Cosmetica- $16- A "bewitching retro red", Bitchwitched offers full-on Hollywood glamour. As I mentioned in some of my previous posts featuring Necromancy Cosmetica's lipsticks, it is the perfect lipstick for those who love the matte velvet look of a liquid lipstick but prefer the comfort of a bullet lipstick formula. I find it applies even more smoothly after warming up the bullet on the back of my hand.
