Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the tastiest of them all? This drinkable spin on the poison apple from Snow White with deliciously cozy apple cider is made extra special with melted Cocomels "poisoned" with sultry bourbon. This recipe makes enough to fill a pitcher for a small party; please feel free to adjust the quantities to make more or less to accommodate your spooktacular guests.
Ingredients
1/2 gallon apple cider (I used local Red Jacket Apple Cider)
1 bag Cocomels Coconut Milk Caramels, unwrapped
3-6 oz bourbon, to taste
1 tablespoon vanilla
Directions
To begin, heat the apple cider in a large stock pot over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally. Add in the vanilla and bourbon, to taste.
Meanwhile, heat the caramels in a microwaveable bowl in the microwave in 15 second increments, stirring in between with a heatproof spatula, until fully melted and incorporated.
Before adding the luscious melted caramel into the hot cider mixture, optionally dip the rim of your serving glasses in the melted caramel for a fancy caramel rim. If you wish, you can also roll the rim into colored sugar of your choosing for a witchy flair. You can use traditional mugs or glass goblets as I have done here...whatever your heart desires.
Next, add the remaining melted caramel into the hot cider concoction, depending on how sweet you want the final result. Stir well until fully incorporated. If you are not serving right away, the cider can remain in the pot over low heat or in a crockpot to keep your potion warm throughout the evening. Otherwise, you are ready to pour into glasses and serve! Enjoy!
