This cheat recipe is even better than the ready-made alternative.
Ingredients
2 containers crescent rolls (like Trader Joe's brand)
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/2 stick vegan butter (+5 tablespoons)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
splash of non-dairy milk
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Unroll one container of crescent roll dough and if it has seams, pinch the seams together so that it becomes one large uniform rectangle of dough. For the filling, in a small bowl, mix together 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, pinch of salt and 1/2 stick softened butter. Brush the filling over the dough. Unroll the second container of dough and place over filling, again pinching together seams. Using a pizza cutter or paring knife, cut the rectangle into 8-10 strips. Roll the strips into coils and place them on a greased baking sheet. Bake them for about 20 minutes until they are golden brown. For the frosting, mix the remaining 1 cup powdered sugar, butter and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. Once incorporated, stir in a splash of non-dairy milk until it reaches your desired consistency. While they are still warm, coat them with a layer of frosting. Enjoy!
