What kind of wizardry is this? This recipe is adapted from my easy crescent cinnamon roll recipe, made extra magical with the help of a waffle iron and some Dollop Sea Salted Caramel Frosting. The texture is reminiscent of perfect Belgian-style waffles with the added goodness of the flaky crescent layers throughout. Mmm!
Ingredients
2 containers crescent rolls (like Trader Joe's brand)
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/2 stick vegan butter
2 containers crescent rolls (like Trader Joe's brand)
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/2 stick vegan butter
Directions
Get your waffle iron out and ready to go. There is no oven required for this recipe!
Unroll one container of crescent roll dough and if it has seams, pinch the seams together so that it becomes one large uniform rectangle of dough. For the filling, in a small bowl, mix together 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, pinch of salt and 1/2 stick softened butter. Brush the filling over the dough. Unroll the second container of dough and place over filling, again pinching together seams. Using a pizza cutter or paring knife, cut the rectangle into 8-10 strips. Roll the strips into coils and place each roll one at a time onto the greased waffle iron, until lightly golden brown.
Then, take everything to the next level with some Dollop Frosting drizzled on top. I LOVE how the Sea Salted Caramel pairs with the sweet cinnamon and sugar. Enjoy!
